Who we are

Mammoth is two designers, Stew and Chris, based in Manningtree on the Essex/Suffolk border and working remotely. We make brands, websites, motion and print for businesses of every size.

The short version

We met in 2014 on the graphic design degree at the University of Essex, and by the second year we knew we wanted our own studio. First we went off to get experience separately: Stew with an internship in London and then as lead designer at the largest further education provider in North Essex, and Chris designing national and international magazines. In 2020 we came back together and started Mammoth.

We spent five years in a Colchester studio and now work remotely, based in Manningtree. Our clients are a mix of local businesses we can pop in on and companies across the UK and Europe we mostly see on screen.

We stay small on purpose. You deal with the people doing the work, decisions get made quickly and nothing gets lost in a handover. It also means we only take on work we can do properly.

Co-founder. Strategy, positioning and the fine details.

Stew looks after strategy, positioning and the fine details, and he's usually the one asking why before anyone asks what. Before Mammoth he cut his teeth on campaigns for big-name brands during an internship in London, then became lead designer at the largest further education provider in North Essex, keeping a huge brand looking sharp across everything it put out.

Co-founder. Design, motion and animation.

Chris leads design, motion and animation, and is usually the one with the idea nobody saw coming. Before Mammoth he spent years designing national and international magazines, including Health & Wellbeing and Great British Food, turning around page after page of beautiful layouts against tight deadlines. If it moves on this site, Chris made it move.
