Why we started The Trade Marks
Years of branding plumbers, decorators, carpenters and scaffolders through Mammoth taught us that trades businesses need something different. So we built it.

Some of our favourite Mammoth projects have had nothing to do with tech start-ups or big campaigns. They’ve been for people who fit floors, put up scaffolding and paint houses.
It started close to home
We both have friends and family in the trades. My dad is a retired industrial electrician, and plenty of our mates run their own vans. So we’ve heard every complaint going: the logo a mate knocked up years ago, the van nobody can read at 30 miles an hour, the website that was out of date the day it went live.
None of that is a reflection of the work. Most of the tradespeople we know are brilliant at what they do. Their branding just never caught up.
What the trades work taught us
Over the years more and more of that work came to Mammoth. We created a brand for Pyramid SD, a scaffold design consultancy, then came back to build their bigger website. We gave Prime Interior Services a brand to match their fit-outs, with a bee at the centre of it. We designed an Art Deco-inspired identity for The Mils, the painting and decorating business that went on to win a Service Excellence Award in 2025, still using the same brand. Dennis + Son Flooring got a brand built around Bizzy the French Bulldog, and Luke told us it brought in the more upmarket jobs he’d been after. Watts Carpentry + Construction got a smart, tool-free identity that has carried the business from joinery into garden rooms, oak structures and timber frames without changing a thing.
A few things kept coming up:
- Trades businesses want to look established from day one. Whether you’ve been going for ten years or ten days, the van, the workwear and the quote should all say you’re the real deal.
- They need it to work in the real world. On the side of a van, on a scaffold banner, on a polo shirt and on a phone screen. Not just on a nice presentation slide.
- They want to know the cost up front. No long proposals and no surprises. Just a clear price and a quick turnaround so they can get back to work.
- They don’t need the full agency process. They need the thinking and the craft, without the weeks of meetings.
So we built something for them
The Trade Marks is our studio for tradespeople. It’s the same two of us, with the same standard of work, packaged up specifically for trades businesses.
There are three set packages, each priced for trades only: Starter for Ten for a new brand, The Full English for a brand plus van design, and The Works for brand, van design and website. We’re flexible on payment, and you deal directly with us from the first chat to the final files.
It also lets Mammoth stay what it is: a small brand and design studio working on all sorts of projects, big and small. If you run a trades business, The Trade Marks is the quickest way to a brand that works as hard as you do.
