Respia
A brand that feels like a breath of fresh air
We led brand discovery for Respia, a start-up setting out to transform the job transition market, then built the whole brand from the strategy up.
The challenge
Christian Murphy and Neil Barnes founded Respia to support people with big ideas: people looking to build businesses, learn new skills and find their true north. Their start-up has ambitions to transform the job transition market.
They came to us early, while the idea was still taking shape, and asked us to lead a brand discovery exercise before creating a full identity.
How we tackled it
We think of a brand as an iceberg. What you see on the surface, the logo, colours and fonts, is only a small part of it. Below the waterline sits the strategy: positioning, personality and core values, the things that give a brand real meaning. For Respia we designed the whole iceberg.
The name comes from “respira”, to breathe, so the logo captures the act of breathing itself, the inhale and the exhale, to bring a sense of calm and renewal. Meeting the brand should feel like a sigh of relief for anyone looking for a breath of fresh air in their working life.
The whole iceberg, not just the tip.

Where it ended up
Respia launched with a brand that stays faithful to its core offer and vision, and the confidence of knowing its work is backed up by a professional, considered identity.
I was delighted with the branding package Mammoth put together for us. They remained faithful to our core offer and vision, and brought it to life in terms of style and presentation. Seeing these materials assembled was the first time I thought, "This is really happening". I also felt far more comfortable about future exposure of our work knowing that our offer would be backed up by the professionalism of this branding.
